apartment at telok blangah

Status: Completed, 2024  |  Singapore

Designed and renovated for a young couple in their 30s, this HDB unit reimagines public housing as a flexible, deeply personal living space. At the heart of the design is a clear and thoughtful spatial intervention: a simple but effective spatial gesture to reconfigure and create a defined foyer and vestibule — establishing a sense of arrival while preserving the openness of the main living areas.

Rather than relying on extensive built-in carpentry, the design embraced restraint — deliberately introducing just a single feature wall to frame the space, allowing the couple’s collection of personal objects and keepsakes to take centerstage. Furnished with their curated selection of designer pieces, the interior was shaped with the intention that both space and furniture would express the couple’s identity, resulting in a home that is lived-in and genuine — an honest reflection of the people who inhabit it.
